What Bill M217 requires

British Columbia is set to become the first jurisdiction in Canada to require forward-facing dash cameras on certain commercial vehicles operating on BC highways. The bill passed third reading on May 26, 2026, with unanimous support. Once it receives Royal Assent, fleets covered by the regulation will have six months to comply.

Final technical specifications will be confirmed through the regulatory process following Royal Assent. We’ll update this page as the regulations are finalized.
